Branded bathrooms: Name-brand hotel amenities

Wash, rinse, repeat: Paul Mitchell products are now featured at four Marriott hotel brands.

Paul Mitchell has checked in. Last month, four different Marriott International brands — including Courtyard by Marriott, SpringHill Suites, Residence Inn and TownePlace Suites — introduced the famed haircare brand at more than 2,000 locations. It’s the first time that John Paul Mitchell Systems has partnered with a hotel company — and the first time that travelers will be able to indulge in the company’s well-known products (including Awapuhi Shampoo, The Detangler, Tea Tree Lemon Sage Body Lotion and Wash) for free in their hotel bathroom.

Apparently, people want names they know when they head into the bathroom, according to Brian King, senior vice president of global brand management at Marriott International. “Research shows us that guests really want a brand name when it comes to shampoo and conditioner,” he said.

This is just one example of name-brand health and beauty products that you can sample for free — and even take home with you — at a variety of hotel chains.

The Hilton family of hotels features a variety of products. Last year, the flagship Hilton brand introduced products from Peter Thomas Roth, including Mega-Rich shampoo, conditioner, body lotion and body wash. DoubleTree by Hilton, meanwhile, features CITRON bath products by Crabtree & Evelyn, inspired by scents of the Mediterranean, with natural extracts of lemon, honey and coriander. Embassy Suites features Naturals by Crabtree & Evelyn, which are derived from botanicals and feature an avocado, olive and basil formula.

Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts — including the Four Seasons Las Vegas and Four Seasons Chicago — carries L’Occitane bath products, including shampoo, shower gel and body lotion.

Upscale independent properties also excel at stocking bathrooms with desirable products. At The Carlyle, a Rosewood Hotel in New York City, guests enjoy use of Kiehl’s toiletries, including bath and shower gel, body moisturizer, shampoo, hair conditioner, ultra facial moisturizer, lip balm and shaving lotion. And at the Hotel Le Germain in Montreal, in-room amenities include Molton Brown toiletries.
